Qualification: Minimum formal education shall include a high school diploma, a successfully completed post K-12 degree in the technology field and a minimum of two years business or educational experience in technology related areas. The position requires the ability to perform complex computer operations and a command of local and wide area network concepts as well as extensive ability to utilize the internet. These skills include but are not limited to:utilizing effectively all of the components of the District’s productivity software including word processing, database,spreadsheet, and graphics packages, the ability to organize and maintain troubleshooting incident data for logging and reference, the ability to install, troubleshoot and resolve problems in hardware, software, and operation systems.The Technology System Specialist will possess superior oral and written skills, will dress in a clean and professional manner and interface effectively with both Professional Staff, Support Staff and students. This position requires the ability to lift up to forty pounds on a regular basis, and requires extensive visual involvement with computer displays. Additionally the position requires the ability to travel to all locations and maneuver in tight spaces including reaching, bending, stooping etc, in order to install systems, peripherals and network connections. The position also requires good mechanical ability and the skills to train end users within the District to be more self-sufficient in maintaining their technology systems. The Technology Systems Specialist must be able to work under pressure, meet inflexible deadlines, and maintain composure while dealing with difficult individuals.
Job Goal: the Technology Systems Specialist is responsible for system installation, both hardware and software and the ongoing support of the District technology systems in order to maximize the effectiveness and availability of District resources. Additionally this position requires exceptional skill developing first level technology awareness and troubleshooting skills in both Professional and Support Staff in order to foster self sufficiency in the maintenance of one’s workstation.
