Objective Performance Standards


Goal #1 Student Growth and Achievement

Monitor student achievement and actively develop successful strategies for improvement

  • Monitor and encourage use of PVAAS data among professional staff with regard to making curricular and strategic planning decisions within the district

  • Develop an assessment schedule for each building level and maintain a system that consistently evaluates student progress through diagnostic tools that include CDT, Study Island, iReady, StudySync, IXL, Acadience

  • Analyze student achievement and growth data, coupled with conversations with school faculty, to determine weaknesses and strategies for improvement at all building levels

  • Assist in the development of additional course offerings at the high school.  This includes taking new CTE programs through the CATS system and submit these programs for approval for these programs through PDE

  • Assist in the development of additional AP courses to the course selection guide for approval


Federal Programs 

  • Monitor/evaluate Title 1 programming

    • Evaluate written goals in eGrants

  • Monitor/evaluate ESL programming

    • Revise District Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP)

  • Monitor all other Title programs under the job description


Professional Development

  • Stimulate and support professional growth and improvement of all staff.  

    • Create professional development that would provide training for staff to be in compliance with all regulations and mandates as well as provide staff with extra training opportunities to be completed throughout the year independently

    • Continue to provide opportunities for grade levels and departments to meet regularly

    • Continue to hold Act 48 committee meetings as they have been held in the past


Goal #2: Organizational Leadership

Ensure the priorities and initiatives are in alignment with vision for the district

  • Monitoring and refining the implementation of new ELA curriculum, 7Mindsets curriculum, new science standards 

Plan programming to support the requirements of Act 55

  • Work in conjunction with other staff to provide training opportunities for faculty, staff, and students 

    • Create independent learning opportunities with the use of Vector Solutions and OTIS

Maintain a regular presence in district buildings and at school district events for the purpose of monitoring effectiveness of programming

  • Spend time meeting with teachers and staff

  • Complete at least 20 teacher observations

  • Spend time in each building weekly  

Works appropriately within the role of instructional leader, while  providing clear direction for teachers and administrators regarding curricular decisions

  • Review curriculum cycle process

  • Develop meaningful professional development activities through the Act 48 process

  • Review science standards with teachers and make recommendations for materials for board approval

  • Allow opportunities for departments/grade levels to edit pacing guides and unit plans to add to shared Professional Staff folder by end of 23-24 school year

  • Work in conjunction with Dr. Michaels to provide necessary support/training to teachers


Goal #3: District Operations and Financial Management 

Assist Mr. Manning with Federal Programs financial and budgetary requirements.  

  • Fulfill all requirements of Federal Programming

Develop the skill set to effectively understand the administrative regulations related to District Operations and Financial Management

  • Attend Budgeting and Finance PASA workshops


Goal #4: Communication and Community Relations  

Successfully build school/community partnerships that benefit students and staff.

  • Participate in parent/family engagement activities through Title I and Title III, and provide visibility with extra and co-curricular activities

Handles media resources skillfully, and regularly demonstrates sound judgment when communicating with the public

  • Submit at least four press release articles 


Goal #5: Human Resource Management
 Where applicable, appropriately manage district staff, assigning functions, delegating effectively, and determining accountability as necessary

  • Assist Dr. Bendle and Mr. Manning  in developing and sustaining recruitment and hiring methodologies

  • Organize and sustain the quality of the New Teacher Induction Program

  • Manage the teacher evaluation schedule and the PA-Etep system 

  • Continue to build relationships with area colleges who have teacher preparation programs 


Goal #6: Professionalism

Perform all duties in a manner consistent with the values and expectations of the board and community at large

Encourage an inclusive and respectful environment that aligns with the Shikellamy School District’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.

Demonstrate ethical and personal integrity consistent with expectations associated with the role of assistant superintendent
