Superintendent’s 30-Day Report
Shikellamy School District
Over the past 30 days, I have had the privilege of beginning my role as Superintendent of the Shikellamy School District. This first month has been centered on listening, learning, and connecting with our students, staff, families, and community. It has been both inspiring and energizing to see firsthand the dedication and pride that make Shikellamy such a special place.
In my initial weeks, I met individually and in groups with building principals, district administrators, and teachers. Through these conversations, one message was clear: we have an incredible team of professionals who care deeply about our students and are determined to help Shikellamy reach new levels of excellence. There is a shared belief that we can become an elite district in every aspect of education including academics, athletics, arts, and community engagement. Achieving this vision will require hard work, collaboration, and a unified focus on the future.
As we look ahead, one of our next major steps will be developing a long-range plan that sets the course for the next decade. This will include creating a 2030 Plan, a 2035 Vision, and updating the district’s Comprehensive Plan. Most importantly, this process will involve input from all stakeholders—students, staff, families, and community members—so that our goals reflect the collective voice of Shikellamy.
At the same time, we will continue reviewing district structures, policies, and procedures related to instruction, operations, and finance to ensure that we are working efficiently, transparently, and always in the best interest of our students.
A consistent theme throughout my first month has been the deep pride our community holds for its school district. Our staff’s dedication and our students’ enthusiasm are remarkable, and there is a shared commitment to strengthening both academic and extracurricular opportunities for all learners.
The first 30 days have reinforced my belief that the Shikellamy School District is filled with wonderful students, talented educators, dedicated staff, and a community that truly supports its schools. Together, we have the opportunity to build upon a strong foundation and ensure that every Shikellamy student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to continuing this important work together in the months and years ahead.
